Fashion ForwardDad's a Dude, ManWhat are you getting Dad for Father’s Day? While a Boston Whaler, Titleist irons or Fat Boy may be slightly out of reach, clothing is usually the next best choice. Dad may not think he needs new clothes (sound familiar), but when he puts on good-looking duds…Dad rocks. Under the hood may be up to date but what about his closet. The 10 year old sandals have no treads left to rotate for another social function and the belt – it’s cracked. It just can’t function anymore. Time to give Dad a 5 point wardrobe courtesy check and give you some ideas to buff up his style. Check point 1 Casual Shorts – Cargo or club shorts just above the knee are a summer staple. Shorts that are too tired, too tight or too short are…no let’s not go there; get them out of the closet immediately. Check point 2 Golf shirts – Unless they are used for working on the car or in the yard, shrunken, faded polo shirts have no place in a man’s wardrobe. Replace with this season’s fashion colours in royal, red, yellow or green. Add a pattern or stripe to spice up his style. Check point 3 Short Sleeve Shirt – Worn open with a white tee shirt, this casual look speaks current and confident. Choose a small to medium check in cotton or go classy with subtle prints or vertical stripes in silk. Check point 4 Belt – No…the black dress belt cannot switch hit for the casual team. A grainy leather brown belt with a matte brass or silver buckle completes the look for kakis or cargo shorts. Check point 5 Sandals – Leather flip flops or leather sandals are the perfect finish; tevas are for the beach and Birkenstocks for jeans. Please don’t forget to remind Dad his toes are showing. Hey another idea – a spa gift certificate for his pedicure. Happy shopping! |
